Country’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki is going to launch a car It will be the hybrid version of the country’s top-selling Maruti Suzuki Swift which is claimed to have a mileage of 48.2Kmpl, with an electric driving range of about 25.5 Km. Company named it ‘Range Extender‘. The car was first being developed for a pilot project, which was to be supplied to the Government of India. However, now the company can launch it for public. The company claims that the new Maruti Swift Hybrid with mileage of 48.2 km / litre.


Features of the car

  • Maruti Suzuki Swift Range Extender offers three modes – series hybrid, parallel hybrid and all-electric.
  • Range Extender is powered by a 658cc, 3-chamber petrol engine that, permanent magnet synchronous motor, which develops 73bhp.
  • Company asserted a mileage of 48.2Km/liter, with an electric driving range of 25.5 Km.

Engine produces power –

In series hybrid model, the petrol engine functions as a generator to power the lithium-ion battery that consequently provides power to the electric engine. For this situation, the petrol engine will in a roundabout way help create power for the electric engine. In parallel hybrid model, both, the electric engine and the petrol engine, will give energy to the wheels.

According to this scheme, for the creation of 2-Wheeler electric Vehicle and hybrid cars Govt. will provide subcidy of Rs 29,000 for 2-Wheelers and Rs 1.38 lakh for cars.
